I had a bad habit of underestimating you.Hopefully this time, they’re using protection. And now that Bella is one, she’s finally allowed more sexy romance times with Edward. Amongst all the angst, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg allows the characters to have some fun, with plenty of humorous moments winking at the inherent silliness of being a vampire. It’s great to watch, but out of place against the rest of the actors, who are playing their roles for realism. His Aro, the head of the Volturi, is delightfully theatrical, with Sheen overplaying every nuance of evil. Out of the huge cast it’s Michael Sheen who’s the most experienced, though it often seems like he’s in a different movie. But with so many vampires now in the mix, they’re left with little to do but to stand and stare and look like they’ve smelt something terrible for the rest of the movie. The gathering of vampire witnesses plays somewhat like a heist film, with new characters quickly introduced and their special powers displayed. Meanwhile, back in Forks, Alice (Ashley Greene) gets a future flash of the impending war, drops her drink in slow-motion and tells the family to recruit witnesses to testify Renesmee was formed naturally. Since turning children is highly illegal, Irina rushes to inform vampire overlords the Volturi, who are waiting for any excuse to fight the Cullens. All is well until fellow vampire Irina (Maggie Grace) sees Renesmee from afar and mistakes her for an immortal child. They’re basically your typical vampire/werewolf family. Plus, Jacob is no longer in love with Bella after “imprinting” on Renesmee, vowing to care for her forever.
